Imagine five friends.

They've spent all day at school, in class.
They're tired.

All they want to do is sit with each other and chat. Preferably with a cup of tea and something to eat.

But they are being called to something more.

The breath of God is in each of them, and He cannot wait to get out into the world.

The five are called to something special, and they decide to answer the call.

So they sit around, they eat, and they chat.

...They grow as disciples.

What is Root Group all about?

Root Group is church for under 18s. It is a place to have fellowship together in the cafe at the start of the evening, and by learning from the Bible things which are relevant to our lives, simple to understand, yet powerful enough to make a difference.

There is no sermon; we learn by asking questions and discussing our opinions. The whole point of the evening is that we meet with God through the Bible, being together, and prayer and worship.

Houseparty 2011

Boy oh boy, do we have some fun times planned...

So there we were sitting in the office and wondering how to make Houseparty better; and we realised that it was going to be very difficult, what with 2010 being so awesome and all. (Who could forget the Superteams, that night that God moved, the fact that we walked halfway round the world, the Germans, etc, etc.)

If we wanted it to be better we were really going to have to make everything better. Like a better venue, better activities, something instead of hoodies (and include these in the cost). So we decided to do all that, and then we asked very, very nicely for everybody to give us their best price so that it wouldn't cost too much more than last year.

All this adds up to the best Housparty ever happening between the 11th and 15th April 2011, and all for £160. Oh my days, this is going to be off the scale...

Motion

Motion is a monthly event for over 18s. The next Motion is on Wednesday 15th September. We'll be meeting at Mish Mash on Ecclesall Road for thoughts about spirituality, life and progressive culture.

Co-Motions

Co-Motions are small, missional gatherings of Christians. Each Co-Motion meets on different days in different places and does different things, but each has the same ethos; to find out where God is at work in the world and get involved.

Co-Motions involve all sorts of things, from book groups, baking, and the Bible to Dungeons & Dragons (seriously), walking, dinner parties and film nights.

New Co-Motions are being added all the time; if you want to find out more or join a Co-Motion just email harry[at]uncutproject.com.

Alternatively come along to "Montrose Co-Motion". The first Wednesday of every month at 30 Montrose Road will be all about discipleship. It will be a gathering together around the Word of God with one another. No question is too silly, no question to controversial. The Word of God is living and should be alive in our lives, so this won't be theory, it will be about life...

Emerging Leaders 2010

"You are the light of the world…. And people don't hide a light under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand so the light shines for all the people in the house."

Jesus told his followers that they were the light of the world. He didn’t say they had the potential to be, or that if they worked hard at it they could be: they were the light of the world.

The only decision we have to make is whether we will hide the light, or let it shine.

There are many ways that we can respond to the call to let our light shine; one way would be to sign up to the Emerging Leaders course starting in September. This is not a normal leadership training course because it starts with the assumption that you already are a leader…all we want to do is work out ways you can use the gifts God has given you for His Kingdom and His Glory.

If you are interested, why not download the application form on the left hand side of this page., which will give you a bit more information about the course as well as dates. Spaces are limited and so not everyone will make it onto the course, but don't worry, we'll be running more courses in the near future.

What is Root Group all about?

It is church focused on those who are under 18. It is a place to have fellowship together in the cafe at the start of the evening., and by learning from the Bible things which are relevant to our lives, simple to understand, yet powerful enough to make a difference.

There is no sermon; we learn by asking questions and discussing our opinions. The whole point of the evening is that we meet with God through the Bible, being together, and prayer and worship.

On the fourth Tuesday of every month Root Group becomes The Green Room. The same venue, the same time, but much more chillaxed...why? Because getting involved in what God is doing in the world is key to what it means to be a part of the Uncut Project...and that means we have got to get out of the church and into God's world!

Seeking first the kingdom...it's about dreams becoming a reality.

Root Grop and Green Room are taking a break over summer, but they'll be back on September 14th!

The Anvil

Throughout history many have taken their hammers and tried to demolish, smash and destroy the Word, but none have succeeded. While all the hammers lie broken on the floor one thing remains - The Anvil, God's Word.

The Anvil is a time when we come together to praise God and hear his Word .The powerful mix of God’s Word, worship, prayer , confession, and monthly communion services ensures we are continually being shaped into the type of people God desires us to be.

Communion

Once a month we share communion together as Jesus instructed us. When we share Communion together it can appear profoundly alien to the world that we live in; but through this significant Christian act we meet with God, through Jesus Christ, and in the power of the Holy Spirit. We carry the effects of this meeting into the world, leading others to an experience of God. You can find the dates for these in the calendar.

Food Church

On the first Sunday of each month we have food church. We eat together and look at big topics in Christianity.

Teenage Kicks is now on a Friday!
Teenage Kicks is now every fortnight!
The time of Teenage Kicks has changed slightly too…it will now be between 8.15 and 10pm.

Turn up at the PARISH HALLS for the usual blend of games, giveaways, Wii, Table Football, music and fun times!

Noonday Project

The Noonday Project is a Sheffield-based project working with Big Issue sellers. Every Saturday a group of young people go out into the City Centre and give the Big Issue sellers something to eat and drink. We endeavour to show God's love by simply meeting people's needs - just as Jesus himself did, and reflecting God's heart for the homeless.

Why Big Issue sellers? We chose to help Big Issue sellers in particular as these are people who are trying do something with their lives and get back on their own two feet.

"If you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday"

Livin' It

Livin' It is the exciting program put on for all Year 7-9s in and around Ecclesall.

At Livin' It we think that if you're prepared for a situation you'll be more likely to make the best decision to display God in your life, and we aim to prepare you for issues you'll face not only now, but also later on in your teens.

Livin' It takes place on a Sunday morning, where we meet together for a mix of social time, teaching around God's word and discussing how to apply it to everyday situations.

We look at situations that will affect teenagers; friends, peer pressure, drugs, missions, and how we can live a full life for God every day of our lives.

Livin' It starts in down at the Youth Bar at 11am, (unless it's the 3rd Sunday of the month then we're in church the whole service)
